From Lamont:
First
Thank you to all whom have reached out and shared their love and respect. The coaches, parents, colleagues, athletes, professionals, friends, frat, alums, etc.
You are a confirmation of the hard work we put in and the blessings yet to come.
Second
I’m NOT retiring. I still have a passion and calling to attempt to make a positive impact on young people and coaches in our sport.
As I and my family have prayed about this decision, what God has spoken to my heart says in order for Him to pour out the next blessings into our hands, we have to use our faith and let go of what we have now.
Third
I leave with no anxiety, hate, or ill will towards GSU and the people in charge. I am proud of what we did accomplish and the next coach has a strong foundation to build on. The track is fixed, we have shown we can attract talented young coaches, great young athletes from all over the globe, and we can produce national level performances at Grambling State in the sprints, jumps, throws, and even distance races.
This staff and young people gave me their best and I am thankful to them and the wonderful group of parents that trusted their young adult children to my care. I received great support from our parents and I’m proud of that.
In due time, we will announce our next plans and we comb thru the options we have. I am open to discussing any and all opportunities and have not made any decisions at this time so feel free to call or text.
May God continue to shine His blessings on GSU and the young people along with anyone charged to support and sustain them.
