Bradley Central High School announces the retirement of Jason Reuter from the position of Head Coach of the Bradley Central High School Bearette basketball program. While at Bradley Central, Coach Reuter built a program defined not only by competitive excellence but also by a strong commitment to student development, sportsmanship, and Bradley Central High School pride.
Coach Jason Reuter came to Bradley Central in 1998. He began his coaching career at BCHS as the boys basketball assistant coach. He became an assistant to the girls’ head coach in 2009. He took over the head coaching position of the Bearette team in 2010 and went on to achieve the highest winning percentage in BCHS basketball history at 489-46 (91.4%). In fact, his only loss at home in a district game was his very first as a head coach. Throughout the 16 years he served as head coach, he built a legacy of consistency. During his tenure, the Bearettes were 43-0 vs. McMinn County, 35-0 vs East Hamilton, 34-0 vs Ooltewah, and 38-1 vs. Cleveland. It’s not hard to see why his adversaries dreaded seeing BCHS on their schedule. His stats are some of the most impressive of a coach on this level anywhere in the nation.
Under Coach Reuter, thirty-four (34) Bearettes have received college scholarships to play at the next level. It’s hard to find someone who has made more impact on the athletes and sports program at Bradley Central than Coach Reuter.
Patrick Spangler, BCHS principal, stated, “Because of the dedication of Coach Reuter, our basketball program is recognized across the state and nation as a true powerhouse, built on a tradition of excellence, relentless competitiveness, and a standard that few can match. His influence will continue to shape our program for years to come, and we are deeply grateful.”
Coach Reuter stated, “It has been an incredible honor to be the Head Coach of the Bradley Central Bearette Basketball program. Most importantly, I want to say thank you to the people who traveled this road with me. To my assistant coaches, the parents, and the Bradley Central community: your unwavering support made these victories possible. To my players past and present: thank you for the grit and heart you poured into this program. While I am stepping away from the sidelines, I do so with a deep sense of pride in what we built together. I am excited to remain a part of the Bradley Central faculty and look forward to seeing the continued success of this program.”
The administration of Bradley Central High School is fully committed to conducting a thoughtful and comprehensive search to locate the next leader of this distinguished basketball program. The process has already begun to identify a candidate who can honor its legacy while bringing strong leadership, vision, and a commitment to developing student-athletes.
